Horses in sandy conditions need gastrointestinal care.
This product is developed for horses who have been exposed to dry or sandy circumstances, when sand has built up in their hindguts. Contains a combination of substances each selected for their specific ability to improve passage, become gelatinous, and stimulate intestinal mucosa regeneration.
If a horse is grazing on sandy soils or is fed in an area with a sandy floor, it is not uncommon for it to take in large amounts of sand. However, due to the sand’s weight and ability to collect in the hindgut in rare cases, this may become a concern and result in blockage and discomfort. The rate at which digesta moves through the intestines determines how quickly sand moves through it (undigested food).
Sand colic and other sand-related obstructions are on the rise in Australia as horses scramble to locate greener pastures to eat because of the prolonged drought. As horses eat the rest of their hay, they often ingest some of the soil or sand that lies beneath it. This is a good way for horses to eat because it resembles their natural grazing pattern.
When the flow is slow, the sand buildup might be accelerated.
It’s possible to do the following things:
Provide hay or feed in feeders off the ground
Avoid overgrazing if possible
Feed a supplement that swells when added to water, and assists the clearance of sand in the faeces
There are two ways to feed SandBuster: wet or dry.
In order to get the most out of the Sandbuster, we don’t advocate soaking it; instead, feed it right away after adding the water so that the swelling and sticking continue.
